2 years for Merrillville guy for assisting criminal in murder case
A Merrillville man was sentenced to 2 years for helping a criminal in a murder case.
De’Shawn Devon Fuller, 19, admitted in court in May that he helped move the body of DeCarol Deloney-Cain after she was killed by her daughter, Alyssa Barrett, and Barrett’s partner, Damarius McGriggs.
Fuller will serve one year in prison, followed by one year on probation.
Fuller opted for related offender Nathaniel Porter, 19, of Merrillville, to Deloney-Cain’s home in the 9400 block of Roosevelt Street in Crown Point after the July 2014 killing, and assisted move her body from her house into her automobile with Barrett, McGriggs and Porter.
Barrett and McGriggs deserted the victim’s vehicle, with her body in the trunk. Deloney-Cain’s automobile was discovered 4 days later a gravel roadway in the 2000 block of East 22nd Avenue.
